The week began with presentations from each country’s representative,
followed by individual as well as group planning sessions with
Brigham Young University faculty members including Dean R. Kent
Crookston, Interim Director Luis V. Espinoza, and former Institute
Director N. Paul Johnston.
Country administrators representing
Ghana, Morocco, Bolivia, Guatemala, and Ecuador commented about
the effectiveness of the conference. “We were able to learn
from the successes and failures of one another and also from
the knowledge of professors and administrators here at Brigham
Young University,” said Elizabeth Garcia, Benson Institute country
coordinator for Bolivia. With newly acquired knowledge, a fresh
look at objectives, and helpful additions to already constructed
plans of action, administrators returned to their homes with
a better means to improve the lives of people throughout the
world, using agronomics and nutrition.
